Program Overview
The M.S. in Chemical Engineering provides a strong foundation of core chemical engineering courses complemented by technical electives, along with a focused research or independent study experience conducted under the guidance of a faculty advisor.
- Biomedical and Biomolecular Engineering
- Environmental Engineering and Sustainability
- Computer Science and Data Analytics
- Materials Science
- Manufacturing Engineering
The chemical engineering program emphasizes immersive research through close faculty mentorship and integration with Syracuse University’s major research ecosystems, including the Syracuse Center of Excellence in Environmental and Energy Systems, the Syracuse University Infrastructure Institute, and NSF-supported energy and materials initiatives. These connections provide students with access to advanced facilities and interdisciplinary teams working on challenges in sustainable energy, resilient infrastructure, and next-generation materials, enabling hands-on research experiences that translate fundamental science into real-world engineering solutions.
Admission Requirements
Prospective students should hold a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Chemical Engineering. A summer bridge course will be offered to students without a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering or for those who lack adequate academic preparation.
